Formula 1 - Japan GP Suzuka In the last season of this famous track, which has brought Michael Schumacher so many satisfactions over the years, the German has lost what may have been his last chance to retire as a world champion... With 17 laps to go, comfortably leading as always and with his rival Alonso on 2nd position, the unbelievable happens: his Ferrai motor lets him down. The sad image of his car on the side of the track, with the broken down engine, and the look on the German champion's face dominated the race. Alonso had no problems winning, Felippe Massa finished 2nd and Giancarlo Fisichella completed the podium. But for all Schumacher/Ferrari fans, this was a sad day, as the 38 year old champion, unbeaten on track, had to abandon the race due to technical problems. He deserved better... Now he only has theoretical chances to retire with an 8th world title. Sad, but true: in two weeks will be our last chance to see him race. So let's all tune in and hope for a wonder to happen.

Tennis - ATP Tokyo World number one Roger Federer overpowered Britain's Tim Henman 6-3 6-3 with ruthless efficiency to win the Japan Open, his ninth title of the year.

Tennis - WTA Stuttgart Fourth seeded Russian Nadia Petrova ended the impressive run of French teenager Tatiana Golovin to claim the Stuttgart Grand Prix title with a 6-3 7-6 win.
