Moto GP - Japan GP
125 cc: Mika Kallio stormed to victory, waiting until the final lap to dive past newly crowned world champion Alvaro Bautista for the win.
250 cc: Hiroshi Aoyama won in Japan for the 2nd time, while Alex de Angelis just couldn't find the speed to get past him. However the race proved to be significant for the championship as title contenders Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso could only manage third and fourth places.
MotoGP: Loris Capirossi was delighted after winning the Japanese Grand Prix for the second year running on a Ducati. Valentino Rossi finished 2nd and is now just 12 points behind Nicky Hayden, with only 2 races to go.

WRC - Cyprus Rally
Sebastien Loeb cruised to his 28th world rally championship victory on Rally Cyprus, as he triumphed on the event for the third year in a row. Marcus Gronholm finished 2nd with 21.1 seconds behind.

Cycling - World Championship Slazburg Olympic champion Paolo Bettini took victory in a thrilling sprint finish at the World Road Race Championships in Salzburg on Sunday to add the title of World Champion to his name. The Italian stormed past Erik Zabel and Alejandro Valverde over the final few metres to take the rainbow jersey.

Tennis - Davis Cup Russia, Davis Cup winners three years ago, will meet Argentina in their fourth final after beating the U.S. in their semi-final in Moscow today.
