Cycling - Vuelta After three second-place finishes, Thor Hushovd finally broke his bad luck strain in the 2006 Vuelta today, by winning the 177-km Stage 6 from Zamora to Leon. After a neck-to-neck sprint the big Norwegian sprinter managed to snatch the win in front of T-Mobile's Andre Greipel and Milram veteran Erik Zabel. Thus, the Norvegian defended his golden jersey for another day and is hoping to keep things this way.

Football - Transfers Steaua has made two last-minute transfers, before completing the list of players that will be able to play in the UEFA Champions League group stage. They have signed Ovidiu Petre from Poli Timisoara for €1 mil and french forward Cyril Thereau from Charleroi.
The spanish radio stations are speculating an exchange deal between Real Madrid and italian champions Internationale Milano. According to the rumours, Adriano and Reyes are to join Real Madrid, while Ronaldo would play for the italians. But the negotiations aren't finalized yet.
PSV Eindhoven have signed former Dutch international Patrick Kluivert from Valencia, the Dutch champions announced today. PSV have given the 30-year-old a season-long contract, after spending a season on Valencia's substitute bench (he made just 10 league appearances, scoring once).
