WRC - Japan Rally World champion Sebastien Loeb has won his first Rally of Japan today, to reach a record 27th career victory. The Frenchman, driving a Citroen for the Kronos team, was in front of Ford's Marcus Gronholm by 5.6 seconds, after 27 stages in the northern island of Hokkaido. Loeb, who now leads the Finn by 33 points in the overall standings, with 5 rounds of the championship remaining, already holds the records for most wins in a single season and most in a row.

Basketball World Championship The Spains have done it! Although european champions Greece were seen as favourites in the final, especially after eliminating the USA, the "Hellas" team was crushed by the iberics with an unbelievable 70-47.

Cycling - Vuelta Alexander Vinokourov did it again! After finishing 2nd in stage 7 of the Vuelta, he got his revenge by winning the stage 8 and proved he is undoubtedly the in-form rider of the Vuelta at the moment by winning stage 9. The 207 km long stage is known as the Queen Stage of the Vuelta and Vinokourov acted as a king, finishing ahead of new gold jersey Alejandro Valverde. This 2nd win in a row brought the Kazakh the 5th place in the overall ranking.
